#10 Recipe and Ramblings: Bitch Blend

#10 Recipe and Ramblings: Bitch Blend

March 09, 2021

For my mother's 40th birthday, my father gave her a gold pendant that said #1 Bitch. She wore that pendant probably every day to the day she died.

When I found this quote, I thought of my mother and her pendant and knew it would be a great addition to my Recipe and Ramblings series. Bette Davis’ quote reminds me of everything my mother taught me about being a woman in a man’s world.

#9 Recipe and Ramblings: Hot Water Rollerball

Eleanor Roosevelt has always been a favorite for me. She always advocated for women's rights even before they were called women's rights or society thought there was a need to advocate for them. I believe she is one of the most important women in US history. She had over 35 honorary degrees, wrote a newspaper column for 27 years, and was the first to include women journalists in the White House.

#8 Recipes and Ramblings: Shake It Cause You Got It Blend

February 22, 2021

In 2019, I was awarded Business Woman of the Year from my local Chamber of Commerce. I wasn't really expecting it, but I was excited and nervous. I am someone that is more comfortable working in the background then in the forefront. So, when I found out I would have to go in front of a group of people to accept this award, I freaked!

Rowan, otherwise known as mountain ash, is a descendant of the rose family. The fruit of the tree is similar to dates and can be used fresh a variety of ways. There is not a lot of medicinal information on this plant as it’s not typically used in herbal medicine, but it is used a lot as a building material.

These trees and shrubs offer birds, insects, and some mammals a great deal of food because their harvests are so plentiful.

#7 Recipes and Ramblings: Solitude Meditation Blend

#7 Recipes and Ramblings: Solitude Meditation Blend

February 17, 2021

There are pure blends in this series that will touch upon self-reflection and meditation. I believe that in order to be our best selves, we need time to get to know ourselves.

I have a friend from college that I hadn't seen in almost 10 years. The person that she was to me in college, was not the person that I had lunch with. To say that she had changed is an understatement. As my brother would say, she did a 180.

Botanical Oracle: Dogwood, Cornus florida

The flowering dogwood tree is well-known as being one of the most beautiful trees in America. Different genus and species grow all throughout the US and blossom into beautiful colors and shapes.

Its fruits have been used for dye and are high in vitamin C with a sweet and tart taste similar to a cranberry. It is not well known for human consumption and is not a berry that you would usually find an herbal pharmacy, but in other parts of the world, the berries are used to treat fever and a substitute for aspirin.

February 02, 2021

If you’ve been following me over the past few weeks, you’ll notice I’ve touched on communication before, but the question becomes, “How do I initiate that openness and communicate? How do I create that space between me and my partner to make open communication happen?”  These are the kinds of questions I asked myself, too, when I formulated this blend.
