Botanical Oracle: Hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna

Botanical Oracle: Hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna

January 28, 2021

The Hawthorne plant is bright flowing plant, whose berries are mainly used in jams, jellies, and syrups, but the berries, leaves, and flowers can be also used in herbal products. In folklore this tree is considered a portal two other worlds. It makes sense then why my Botanical Oracle deck would pair Hawthorne with the word Sacred.

#4 Recipe and Ramblings: We Love

#4 Recipe and Ramblings: We Love

January 26, 2021

I find that when you go out on a limb and communicate, this is a way both you and your partner can get closer to each other. In all of my relationships, romantic or not, I find the strongest ones are the ones where I can communicate openly without any fear of judgment or backlash. It is so important to understand but other people's emotions are not opinions.

Botanical Oracle: Foxglove, Digitalis purpurea

Botanical Oracle: Foxglove, Digitalis purpurea

January 22, 2021

As we do a deeper dive into the Botanical Oracle, I think it's important to note that not all plants we discuss are safe. Foxglove is one of those plants. With all the plants in the world, there is no need to use foxglove in any medicinal capacity, and it should never be ingested.

#3: Recipes and Ramblings: Gratitude Counts

#3: Recipes and Ramblings: Gratitude Counts

January 19, 2021

In 2012, I stepped onto the path that would leave me to where I am today. The most important lesson I learned during that time with the lesson of gratitude. Gratitude truly makes the world go round. Sometimes, the tennis balls come flying at you, and though you’re trying to hit them back or avoid them as fast as you can, you lose your strength, become exhausted, and a tiny little part of you asks why. Why am I doing this? I should just give up.

This is when gratitude comes in.

Botanical Oracle: Golden Poppy, Eschscholzia californica

Botanical Oracle: Golden Poppy, Eschscholzia californica

January 15, 2021

California poppy is a wonderful nervine, meaning it’s an herb that works on your nervous system. Many of my clients suffer from insomnia, stress, and anxiety, so this is a go-to herb for me. Because this herb doesn’t taste great by itself, I always try to add peppermint or lavender, or even a bit of honey, to make it more palatable when I use it.

#2 Recipe and Ramblings: Think P.I.G. Diffuser Blend

#2 Recipe and Ramblings: Think P.I.G. Diffuser Blend

January 12, 2021

The Think P.I.G. blend is one of my all-time favorite blends. Each oil used in this blend are considered woodsy oils. They are grounded in the Earth for much longer than I’ve been on this planet, and they have a type of strength that us as humans will never have. The fact they can give these beautiful scents off is just simply incredible.

Botanical Oracle: Fern, Athyrium filix-femina

Botanical Oracle: Fern, Athyrium filix-femina

January 07, 2021

In my childhood home, we had a room called the Blue Room. The walls were not blue, but the bedspread was. I still don't understand why it was called the Blue Room. All of that notwithstanding, I don’t reminisce over the Blue Room because of the color of the walls or bedspread. Instead, I always think of all the ferns my mother filled it with.

She had quite an affection for fern plants.

#1: Recipes and Ramblings: Say No Strength Inhaler

#1: Recipes and Ramblings: Say No Strength Inhaler

January 05, 2021

One day, when I was in a Facebook live, the issue of mental health came up. Without thinking, I jumped into the conversation by saying that there is no stigma about going to the drugstore to pick up an ibuprofen, cough, cold, or flu medication.

But why is this different when related to mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression and even insomnia?

Botanical Oracle: Calendula, Calendula Officinalis

Botanical Oracle: Calendula, Calendula Officinalis

January 01, 2021

I remember as a little girl taking marigolds and trying to get the yellow dye off of them and rubbing them up and down my hands. Then my girlfriends and I would pick up a whole bunch and put them in a box. When I brought them into the house, my father would say to me, “Why are you doing that?  Those are weeds.”

The Story of Healing in 2020

The Story of Healing in 2020

August 21, 2020

Since the last time I wrote, our whole world changed. Life is “not normal”, it will never go back to “normal”.

Health has now become a political topic instead standing on its own. People are arguing over screens about things that are out of our control. Our happy hours are now Zoom meetings and people can decide if they want to wear pajama bottoms when they go to work meetings.

Music is My Love and Blend Language

Music is My Love and Blend Language

May 21, 2020

On the last day of class, we finished up the custom blends we had created for our clients that week, and were tasked with using Blossoming Heart blending tools from Robbie Zeck to create a special blend for our partners.

Recently, one of my best friends told me that music was my love language. That was a very profound statement to me when I realized the truth of it. I learned that week that a big part of my self-care, the world of the week for us, was sitting in my music room listening to my records.

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Moment

A Once-in-a-Lifetime Moment

May 12, 2020

I can’t believe I haven’t written to you since February. I had big plans - plans about happiness, growth and love. Now it's about survival, and for me, trying to find the silver lining in this cloud we find ourselves in. See, the second week in March was huge for me, and I couldn’t wait to tell you all about it.
