A note from Meredith:

Happy New Year! What a year 2021 turned out to be. For me I am grateful to all of you for supporting us and making our start up year a great one. We are able to grow and build because of it. I also need to give a personal shout out to M.H., a beautiful woman and great supporter of us. We think everyone on her list got a Faeve product this year and because of her we were able to give a little something to our managers. Thank you M.H. for everything.

I also want to personally thank my team. They don't get thanked enough for all they do. They stand by me, help me, put me in my place when needed and are my limbs. To Tiffany, Rachel and Raven, you are my people and my gifts daily. Thank you for everything every day that you do to help Faeve, its customers and clients and myself so we can grow and be the best we can be.

A few days ago I had a woman from out of town come in and tell me how much she liked my business model. She is an herbalist herself from out West. As we were chatting she asked me how much profit we made and if it was worth my time. Albeit, I was taken aback but answered anyway. My answer was that I didn't know because that's not what I took inventory of everyday. I explained to her that I took inventory of how may people we helped, how many possible crisis's we solved or what we educated someone on that day. To me that is the true "profit" of our success. Thank you all for helping us help you. Doing the right thing always comes back.

May 2022 find you healthy, happy and full of joy. As always if you need anything, please always reach out.

With deep gratitude,

Meredith
New Research on Covid-19 and Essential Oils

Just when we think we are out of the woods, here comes Omnicron. The numbers in Florida have been worse with this variant than we have seen with the Delta variant and number wise, we are back to where we were when it first started. The "good" part is that this variant is much milder and behave more like a bad cold or mild flu. With all of us here in Central Florida getting ready for "snowbird" season as people from all over the world come to see our beautiful weather, we are more at risk than we usually are. New studies have come out to assist us in battling at least the symptoms of COVID-19 and its variants.

The name of the study is  "Appropriate use of essential oils and their components in the management of upper respiratory tract symptoms in patients with COVID-19"

As always, we encourage you to read the study in its entirety but we are here to give you the main talking points.
What we really like about this study is that it digs deep into the chemistry of the oils, so instead of saying Eucalyptus and Tea Tree will help Covid-19, it starts to pull apart the constituents of the oils. As Clinical Aromatherapists this is how we are taught to approach the disease process.  This is because the same Rosemary that you may grow in your garden will not have the same chemical makeup as Rosemary grown in another part of the world. From a therapeutic value, these two plants may work two different ways, even if they are the same genus and species.

In this case, the main constituents that they have found effective for the upper respiratory symptoms of Covid-19 are Eucalyptol, Menthol and 1,8 cineole.

This is where it gets interesting...looking at those constituents you would think that Eucalyptus Oil would have the most Eucalyptol in it wouldn't you? Makes sense, it even sounds like the name of the plant. Guess what? In most types of Eucalyptus Globous Oils, the one most people know about, there is hardly if ever any Eucalyptol in it. A quick study of chemical constituents show that one type of Eucalyptus which is Eucalyptus Gunnii has 86% of Eucalyptol in it. This is not a very easy oil to find.

The good news is that essential oils of Bay Laurel otherwise known as Laurel Leaf and the essential oil of Sage have decent amounts of this constituent. This is where you would want to go to help those symptoms. Many oils have menthol in them, but the study does state that menthol may not be the best because menthol can possibly mask the severity of your symptoms.

The last constituent is 1,8 cineole and that can be found in many types of Eucalyptus. So in that sense yes, Eucalyptus possibly may help with the upper respiratory symptoms of Covid-19.

If you were to make an inhaler? Look at doing equal parts of Bay Laurel, Sage and Eucalyptus.

New Classes are Available!
We want to thank all those who have made all of our classes such a success. We are grateful to you for coming and the amazing feedback that we get back from you is worth all the time and energy we spend putting them together. This season, we are offering two new topics that we have not taught before.
1) Kitchen Medicine: In this class you will learn how to make herbal vinegars and honeys and learn how to infuse herbs of your own into oils for cooking and for long term therapeutic use. We will be using fresh herbs from one of the local farms. Given the type f herb we use will depend on what products we make, but you will leave with 2-3 herbal kitchen products and a large amount of information on how to do this at home. This class will be taught by Meredith or her Master Gardener Herbalist aunt, Peggy.

2) The Endocannabinoid System: There is so much fodder around CBD and what it does to the body. Did you know that CBD is just one of the chemical constituents that work on our Endocannabinoid system? Did you know this system is so new that it has only been researched for about 20 years? Understanding how this system works with other systems, such as the immune system gives us greater knowledge on how to take care of ourselves as a whole. In this class we will learn the history of the system, what it comprises of and how we can access it easily. This class will be taught by Rachel Jennings, our resident expert expert who is certified in the Endocannabinoid System.

January Speaker Series!

As we promised, this year of 2022 will have a speaker once a month in the store for free for our friends and customers to find out more information on topics that we find pertinent to our community. On January 12, 2022 Dylan Pate from Ortho Molecular Products will be here to hand out some samples of functional food smoothies and their new Detox Program. The best part of this is any question you have regarding any supplement may be asked. Always wondering what Alpha Lipoic Acid does for blood sugar? Now you can ask an expert. There is no cost to attend and no pressure to buy anything. We believe that education leads to better health choices. Better health choices leads to happier people, happier people will tell people about us....it's a full circle. Co-Q10 for your heart? How does that work? Dylan loves to be challenged so come visit with your hard questions! Events starts at 11 and will go for approximately 2 hours.

Consults are back!
Meredith is finally back doing full consults for herbal and aromatic issues. The best part is now she can also do them on Zoom. Pricing starts at $50.00 and once you become a client, you will have faster access to her and custom products because she already has your info. Email info@myfaeve.com and we can set it up for you.
Quick Thanks....

To all the customers and clients that have come to us for Eczema and Psoriasis in the last few months....we thank you. By giving us your trust, Meredith has been able to take all of your data and come up with an amazing new product for the Faeve line. Without all of you out there helping us figure out the science of reason on these conditions, she couldn't have gotten the research done as fast! Look for the new product out in February or March.
