 Essential Oils

Angelica Root: Angelica Archangelica. Analgesic, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant. Safety: Phototxic.

Anise: Pimpinella anisum.  Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antithrombitic, antiviral, carminative, digestive, emmenagogue, expectorant, respiratory, menstrual dysfunctions. Safety: Do not use if pregnant, breastfeeding, endometrosis diagnosis, any estrogen related cancers and children under 5 years of age. Do not use if on anti-coagulant medications or bleeding disorders.

Balsam Copaiba: Copaifera officinalis. Skin and wound healing, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antispasmodic, asthma and lung conditions, anti-anxiety, antitumoral. No safety concerns.

Balsam Fir: Abies balsamea. Decongestant, anti-bacterial, immunostimulant, anti-inflammatory, possible analgesic. Safety: Caution with those who have asthma or COPD.

Basil (Sweet):  Ocimum basilicum ct. linalool. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, antispasmodic, antiviral, carminative, cephalic, expectorant, anxiety, stress, headaches, mental fatigue, musculoskeletal, respiratory, vomiting. Safety: Do not use in high levels. Keep dilutions to 3%.

Benzoin Resinoid: Styrax benzoe. Antioxidant, skin healing, decongestant, anti-inflammatory, depression, stress, anxiety. Safety: No safety issues.

Bergamot: Citrus bergamia. Digestive discomfort, emotional health, respiratory, immunostimulant, musculoskeletal, stress and hypertension. Safety: Phototoxic. Avoid direct sunlight for up to 18 hours after applying to skin.

Bergamot Mint: Mentha citrata. Sedative, anti-infectious, anti-spasmodic, analgesic, immune support, soothing, nausea, stress and anxiety. Safety: No safety concerns.

Birch: Betulla alleghensia. Insomnia, musculoskeletal, reduce cellulite, water retention, anti-inflammatory. Safety: No safety concerns.

Black Pepper: Piper nigrum. Circulation, digestion, immune support, musculoskeletal, analgesic, respiratory, smoking cessation. Safety: Hot and spicy, use 1% dilution to avoid skin irritation.

Black Spruce: Picea mariana. Analgesic, anti-inflamatory, sedative, mucolytic, colds, flu, sinus infections, anti-inflammatory. Safety: Caution with those who have asthma or COPD.

Blue Cypress: Callitris intratropica. Analgesic, antibacterial, anti-viral, allergies, immuostimulant, wound care, antimicrobial, bug bites, burns, allergies. Safety: Avoid oil during pregnancy.

Cajuput: Melaleuca cajuput. Similar to Eucalyptus. Decongestant, expectorant, antispasmodic, musculoskeletal, insect repellent, respiratory, acne, urinary system. Safety: Milder than Eucalyptus , however, do not use in children under 5.

Cardamom: Elettaria cardamomum. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, cephalic, decongestant, expectorant, digestive aid, digestive, stress and anxiety, respiratory.  Safety: Overuse may cause dry skin.  Not to be used on children under 5 years old. Use caution or another oil for children in the 5-10 age range.

Carrot Seed: Daucus carota. Skin healing, eczema, psoriasis, skin ulcers, skin infections, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, arthritis. Safety: Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. May interfere with gestation. Err on side of caution if trying to become pregnant.

Cassia: Cinnamomum cassia. Stress and oral care. Safety: Never use directly on skin. Dilution rates of less than 1%. Do not use on children under 10 years old.

Cedarwood: Juniperus virginiana. Anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, astringent, sedative, decongestant, diuretic, expectorant, insecticide, mucolytic, wound healing, respiratory, stress, urinary. Safety: Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.

Chamomile, German: Matricaria recuita. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, allergies, anti-fungal, antihistmatic, antispasmodic, antiviral, skin and wound healing, sedative, cooling, musculoskeletal, respiratory, stress. Safety: May have interactions with codeine and tamoxifen and antidepressants.

Chamomile, Roman: Chamaemelum. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, sedative, digestive, skin healing, digestion, menstrual cramps, stress, pre menstrual syndrome, musculoskeletal. Safety: No safety concerns.

Citronella Java: Cymbopogan winterianus. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant, sedative. Safety: No safety issues.

Clary Sage: Salvia sclarea. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, antibacterial, sedative, emmenagogue, immunostimulant, digestion, menstruation, musculoskeletal, respiratory, stress, tension, anti-acne. Safety: No known safety concerns.

Clove Bud: Eugenia caryophyllata. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antidepressant, antifungal, antioxidant, antiviral, digestion, musculoskeletal. Safety: Do not use on young children and topical usuage to .5%.

Coriander: Coriandrum sativum. Respiratory issues, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, infection, tension headaches, analgesic, Safety: Do not use if pregnant, breastfeeding, on children or if epileptic.

Corn Mint: Mentha arvensis. Analgesic, anti-spasmodic, muscloskeletal, antibacterial. Safety: Do not use if on an anticoagulant, do not use in children under 5 years old, do not use with gallbladder issues.

Cypress: Cupressus sempervirens. Analgesic, anti-inflammtory, antibacterial, antioxidant, antispasmodic, astringent, decongestant, diuretic, menstruation, musculoskeletal, respiratory, wound healing. Safety: Do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Caution with those with asthma.

Frankincense: Boswellia carterii. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, skin healing, immunostimulant, cognition and memory, headaches, joint pain, respiratory. Safety: No safety concerns.

Geranium: Pelargonium x asperum. Analgesic, shingles, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antidepressant, antifungal, antispasmodic, skin healing, stress, lymphatic. Safety: No safety concerns.

Ghandi Root: Homalomena aromatica. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antispasmodic, allergies, immunostimulant, insomnia, anti-infectious. Safety: No safety concerns.

Ginger: Zingiber officinale. Analgesic, digestive, nausea, antioxidant, antispasmodic, detoxifying, expectorant, immunostimulant, respiratory. Safety: May irritate sensitive skin.

Gingergrass: Cymbopogon martini var. sofia. Allergies, anti-infectious, decongestant, anti-inflammatory. Safety: No safety concerns topically.

Grapefruit: Citrus paradisi. Analgesic, anti-bacterial, astringent, cooling, immunostimulant, detoxification. Safety: Phototoxic and possible skin irritation. Use only at 4% dilution.

 Helichrysum: Helichrysum italicum. Analgesic, allergies, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, wound healing, skin healing, muscle and tissue damage. Safety: No safety concerns.

 Hyssop: Hyssopus officialnalis var decumbens. Antidepressant, antiviral, digestive, sedative, expectorant, rubefacient, antifungal, insomnia. Safety: No safety issues with this oil.

 Inula: Inula graveolens. Respiratory aide. Immunostimulant. Safety: No safety concerns.

 Jasmine Absolute: Jasminum grandiflorum. Antidepressant, sedative, skin healing, musculoskeletal, stress, fatigue. Safety: Possible reaction to fragrance sensitive people.

 Juniper Berry: Juniperus communis. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, musculoskeletal. Safety: Do not use if pregnant.

 Kanuka: Kunzea ericoides. Analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, muscoskeletal pain, anti-inflammatory, fibromyalgia, burns.  Safety: No safety issues.

 Laurel Leaf: Laurus nobilis. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, digestive, antispasmodic, decongestant, expectorant. Safety: Low dilution on skin. Not for use on children under 5 and caustion with children ages 5-10.

 Lavender: Lavandula angustifolia.  Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antispasmodic, sedative, immunostimulant, skin healing, dysmenorrhea, stress, anxiety. Safety: No safety concerns.

 Lemon: Citrus limon. Analgesic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antidepressant, cooling, immunostimulant, detoxifying,  astringent. Safety: Phototoxic. Use in blends at 2% dilution.

 Lemongrass: Cymbopogon citraus. Microbial, analgesic, antifungal, antiviral, cooling, immunostimulant, sedative, insomnia, anxiety. Safety: Large amounts may cause skin irritation. Use at 1% of blends. Not for use in children. Do not use with antidepressants or while pregnant or breastfeeding.

 Lime: Citrus aurantifolia. Antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, digestive, antidepressant. Safety: Lime that is not distilled is phototoxic. Faeve only uses distilled.

 Linaloe Berry: Bursera delpechiana. Insomnia, anti-spasmodic, analgesic. Safety: No safety concerns.

 Marjoram (Sweet): Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antispasmodic, sedative, anxiety, digestive, immunostimulant, warming, dysmenorrhea, respiratory, musculoskeletal. Safety: No safety concerns.

 Mastic: Pistacia lentiscus ct. b-myrcene. Analgesic, respiratory, headaches, sinus congestion, antibacterial. Safety: Do not use dermally higher than 20% dilution.

 May Chang: Litsea cubeba. Anti-infectious, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, immunostimulant, antifungal. Safety: Do not use with children under 5 years old. May cause skin irritation. Use dermally at .5% dilution.

 Melissa: Melissa officinalis. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, sedative, cooling, immunostimulant, musculoskeletal. Safety: May cause skin irritation with those with sensitive skin. Avoid using on children under 5. Best to avoid during pregnancy.

 Myrrh: Commiphora myrrha. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, skin healing, warming, respiratory. Safety: Do not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

 Myrtle: Myrtus communis ct. myrtenyl acetate. Anti- infectious, antibacterial, antiviral, antispasmodic, sedative, calming, analgesic, musculoskeletal. Safety: Caution with those who have asthma. Dermal maximum of 1%.

 Neroli: Citrus aurantium var. amara. Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, sedative, skin healing, anxiety, stress, musculoskeletal. Safety: No safety concerns for non adulterated oil.

 Vitex: Vitex agnus castus. Hormonal balancing. Too much estrogen. Works with endocrine system. Normalizes progesterone levels. PMS symptoms, depression, decongestant. Safety: Do not use while pregnant or trying to become pregnant.

 Yarrow: Achillea millefolium. Anti-inflammatory, colds and flu. Safety: Caution with pregnancy and children under 10.

 Ylang Ylang: Cananga odorata var. genuina. Analgesic, sedative, cooling, hypotensive, skin healing, anxiety, depression and insomnia, stress. Safety: Do not use on inflamed skin, or dermatitis. Large quantities cause headaches and nausea.
